CHEESE VEGETABLES

CHEESE VEGETABLES - - There's something I find very satisfying about cheese anytime but more so if it is added to our everyday gulay. A cheese sauce adds flavor and richness to vegetables and it is specially good on potatoes, carrots, cauliflower broccoli, etc.

Cheese is a delicious and nutritious food that is very versatile.  It is a dairy product derived from milk so it contains a lot of nutrients like calcium, protein, phosphorous, zinc, Vitamin A and Vitamin B12. Once in a while it would be nice to serve our family with a cheesy, healthy ulam like this one. Perfect with rice or bread.

Here's my vegetarian recipe of cheese vegetables.

Ingredients:
1/2 c tofu or tokwa (cubed, fried)
1/2 c potatoes (cubed)
1/2 c sayote (cubed)
1/2 c carrots (cubed)
1/2 c green beans (chopped)
1 c grated cheese
1 pack (3-4 Tbsp) Cream of Asparagus soup powder or any vegetable-based cream powder, dissolved in a little water.

Procedure:
1. Saute leeks or spring onions (or garlic and onions) in oil.  Add potatoes, carrots, sayote, salt and seasoning. Add a little water.  Cover and cook until vegetables are tender.
2.  Add and toss green beans lastly, grated cheese, fried tofu or tokwa and dissolved cream of asparagus soup powder.  Mix well.  Turn off heat. Serve with rice or bread.
