STEAMED OKRA with sawsawang toyo't kalamansi

STEAMED OKRA with sawsawang toyo't kalamansi (soy sauce and calamansi or lemon juice) ---one of my favorites.

Okra originated in Africa, near the present day Ethiopia and Anglo-Egyptian Sudan. It has been cultivated and eaten since ancient times, the seeds toasted and ground, used as substitute for coffee until now. Okra was taken from Ethiopia to Mediterranean, Arabia, India and eastward.
Okra is a very rich source of dietary fiber, highly recommended for cholesterol control and reducing weight. It is a very low calorie vegetable excellent source of anti-oxidant vitamins, healthy Vitamin C, Vit A and B-complex.

I love steamed okra, cooked 'sapaw sa sinaing' sawsaw sa toyo't calamansi with hot rice. Simple and healthy meal!
